Acceptance

By accessing daughterproject.org or any subdomain, by giving a donation through us, by registering for an event, or by enrolling in a club, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

These Terms apply to all visitors, donors, volunteers, club leaders, partners, and anyone else who interacts with the site or with Global Family Care Network through it.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted at the top of this page with a new effective date and, where appropriate, announced by email. Your continued use of the site after a change means you accept the change.

Use of the site

You agree to use the site lawfully and respectfully. Specifically:

• Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site, the servers, or related infrastructure.
• Do not introduce viruses, worms, ransomware, or any malicious code.
• Do not scrape, harvest, or collect information from the site without our written permission.
• Do not impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with any organisation.
• Do not use the site to promote products, services, or causes unrelated to the Daughter Project.
• Do not upload survivor identifying information, even your own children, to public-facing comment forms.
• Do comply with all local, state, national, and international laws when using the site.

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or are putting anyone at risk.

Intellectual property

All content on the site, including text, graphics, logos, photographs, video, audio, and code, is the property of Global Family Care Network or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.

Your limited licence

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to view, download for personal reference, and share excerpts of our content for non-commercial purposes, provided you credit the Daughter Project and link back to the original source.

What you may not do

• Reproduce, modify, or distribute our content for commercial use.
• Use our content to train a generative AI model without our written permission.
• Strip credit from photos or stories that originate with our field teams or survivor partners.
• Use our content in a way that suggests endorsement of products, candidates, or causes we have not endorsed.

User submissions

If you send us photos, video, testimonials, or other content, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to use it in our communications. You confirm that you have the right to grant this licence and that the content does not violate anyone's privacy or copyright. You can ask us to remove your contribution at any time.

Donation refund policy

Donations are tax-deductible gifts. We want you to give with confidence, so our refund policy is generous.

• Mistaken donation. If you donated by mistake (wrong amount, duplicate transaction, wrong charity), email info@myglobalfamily.org within 30 days and we will refund the full amount to the original payment method, usually within 5 business days.
• Recurring gifts. You may cancel a recurring gift at any time, with no questions. The next scheduled charge will not occur. Past charges are not automatically refunded but will be refunded on request within 30 days of the charge.
• Tax receipt impact. A refunded donation is not a tax-deductible gift. If we have already issued a receipt, we will issue an amended receipt or void the original.
• Restricted gifts. If you restricted a gift to a country or program that is no longer accepting funds (rare, but possible), we will contact you to redirect the gift or refund. We do not unilaterally redirect restricted gifts.
• Stock, crypto, DAF. Once received and liquidated, these gifts are generally not refundable because the underlying asset has been converted. Contact us within 24 hours if you believe a transfer was made in error.

Disclaimers

The site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While we work hard to keep everything accurate, current, and online, we cannot guarantee perfection.

• We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure against all attacks, or compatible with every device or browser.
• We do not warrant that information on the site is complete, accurate, or current at every moment. Statistics, country counts, and program details are updated quarterly.
• Content provided by third parties (press articles, partner statements, embedded video) is the responsibility of those third parties.
• External links are provided as a convenience. We do not endorse and are not responsible for the content of external sites.
• Nothing on the site constitutes legal, medical, tax, or financial advice. Consult a qualified professional for advice on your situation.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Global Family Care Network, its trustees, officers, employees, volunteers, and contractors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the site, including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunity, even if we have been advised of the possibility.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of your use of the site is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you donated to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for certain damages, so some of these limits may not apply to you. In those cases, our liability is limited to the maximum extent allowed by law.

Trademark

Daughter Project, the Daughter Project logo, shedeserves, "We stay until she is home", and related marks are trademarks of Global Family Care Network. You may not use our marks without our prior written permission, except for fair use in news reporting, criticism, or non-commercial educational reference.

Permitted partner use of our logo (church partners, club leaders, employer match administrators) is governed by our brand guidelines. Email info@myglobalfamily.org for a copy.

If you believe content on our site infringes your trademark or copyright, send a notice that complies with the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) to info@myglobalfamily.org. We respond to valid notices within 10 business days.

Governing law and disputes

If you live in the United States or anywhere outside the United Kingdom, these Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of laws rules. The state and federal courts located in Kern County, California have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute that is not resolved through the steps below.

If you live in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, these Terms are governed by the laws of Scotland and the courts of Scotland have exclusive jurisdiction.

Informal resolution first

Before filing any formal action, write to info@myglobalfamily.org with the specifics of your complaint. We will respond within 30 days and try to resolve the matter in good faith. Most disputes are resolved this way.

Class action waiver

Where permitted by law, you and Global Family Care Network agree to resolve disputes individually, not as a class. This does not limit your rights under mandatory consumer protection law.
